Work In Progress

This site and I both are works in progress.

We’re growing, changing and evolving – and I love that you’re here to see it happen.

Special thanks for the day go out to Tami, a talented food stylist and the compelling author of the blog RunningWithTweezers.  Tami graciously shared an iPhone snap of mine on her blog (with delicious attribution!) during Snomageddeon ’11, warming the hearts and minds of her readers with link love and warm thoughts.

The Miller Family

I couldn’t have had more fun shooting this wonderful family for their holiday portraits, not only does the wee one just make you want to squish her when she smiles (which is almost non-stop) but the normal sized humans are such genuinely delightful people that my face nearly hurt from smiling.

A beautiful morning spent at their home near Decatur was followed by a short romp in the (thankfully cooperative) sunshine in the Decatur square.

I admit, I was a little weepy when their Christmas card arrived with a photo I’d taken of their little one gracing it.

Thanks to the Miller family for a fantastic shoot!

Samantha Murphy // Singer Songwriter

Samantha Murphy is a talented singer songwriter, and I was beyond humbled when she engaged me to do a shoot with her for her upcoming album.

Look for her video airing on CMT, a beautiful rendition of the Johnny Cash classic Ring of Fire.  You can also see the video here.

Bonus photos not shown here (but arranged before we started) include her amazing boyfriend Brian proposing in the middle of our shoot.  Congratulations you two, and much continued success to you Samantha.

Kim

Kim was approached by a local publication to write a column and needed some photos she liked of herself to go with it.

We spent the day with my friend Paul assisting, wandering around town and playing in various locations.  Nothing I love more than a subject with a sense of humor who loves to laugh and does it easily!

Kim was a natural in front of the camera, and knew exactly what she wanted.  She was incredibly flexible in humoring my shoot ideas and was a complete pleasure to work with.

Continued success with your writing, Kim!

The Good Graces

The Good Graces consists of talented local solo artists who have come together to make magic.

Though I know they were  hesitant to humor my 6am call for *perfect light*, they were all troopers about it and came in with giggles and coffee and beautiful energy.

The pictures are the proof of their wonderful spirits, and you can keep up with them here.

Rock on, you guys!
